About the artist
I started working with driftwood several years ago. Walking along the beach, I saw a piece of driftwood that looked like a "J". My son's name starts with a "J" so I thought it would be fun to sand the piece down and mount it into a stand as a birthday gift. I looked online for guidance as I had never done anything like this before. I found a group called Northwest Driftwood Artists (northwestdriftwoodartists.org). They have videos, lists of tools and classes. I signed up for a class and was immediately impressed with the artistry of the members and the welcoming nature of the group. Their method requires patience as all the work is completed with hand tools.
My work style has evolved since then (I use power tools now) and my passion for working with wood has deepened. I love the story pieces of wood have to tell. Tossed around and weathered by the ocean, and changed by ocean critters, each piece of wood has it's own history. Now every time I visit the beach, I'm looking for unique pieces to carve, sand and present to you.

PNWwoodcreations was born from a love of the Pacific Northwest beaches. Strolling along these isolated beaches brings me peace and harmony as well as some wonderful treasures. Every walk on the beach leads to amazing driftwood finds. Take a look. I'm sure you'll love the driftwood pieces as much as I do.
